The City of Asheboro has unfortunately had to make the difficult decision that many of us have been dreading and that we are sure will be met with a multitude of mixed emotions. After having been in constant communication with local, state and federal emergency management teams, we have decided it is in the best interest of our community to cancel the 2020 Summer Concert Series held in Downtown Asheboro. Rest assured that this decision was not made lightly but one that we felt was the correct action to take at this time in order to protect not only the artists but our audiences, partners, and staff.
We know there will be many questions as we are all navigating this unprecedented situation together. However, rescheduling the Summer Concerts as a complete series is just not possible given the complexity of organizing all of the events as one and the fact that future coronavirus cancellations may be extended beyond the current guidelines. While the Summer Concert Series as a whole will not be held in 2020, it may be possible to reschedule some concerts as individual events later in the year.
We would also like to take this moment to encourage each of you to follow the advice of those emergency management officials regarding how to mitigate the spread of this virus, which includes sheltering at home, social distancing, proper handwashing, and sanitizing your environments. Our community is a very special place and by all of us following these guidelines we will all be able to enjoy it again soon.
