Changes to Police Department Procedures
As the COVID-19 virus continues to alter our normal daily activities, the Police Department (APD) Command Staff is working to utilize our resources and adjust to the on-going crisis affecting our nation and community. Read the changes below in our practices at APD regarding taking reports by phone along with other guidelines to follow in an effort to mitigate the chances of exposure to COVID-19.
Reports taken by phone
Beginning Monday, March 23rd between the hours of 0800-2200, the Asheboro Police Department will designate two desk officers to take non-emergency report calls from 336-626-1300 ext. 337. As of now, the desk officers will only be taking reports by phone Mon-Fri and we will monitor and evaluate this practice as it progresses.
Notifying citizens of the process to electronically receive completed reports
An email (email@example.com) has been created for citizens to request reports electronically.
Responding to calls for service/Interacting with the complainant
Randolph Communications will be instructing complainants/citizens to meet officers outside a residence when feasible to limit exposure and prevent any unnecessary risks.
