The City of Asheboro is completing this environmental restoration project to improve Hasketts Creek water quality and the health of the park’s wetlands. Upon completion, riparian buffers will be restored and the city will institute best management practices, changing the way land around the creek and wetlands is maintained. Visitors can expect to see native vegetation and higher grasses in those areas to improve the filtering ability of that land.
Funding is provided by the North Carolina Land and Water Fund and the NC Department of Environmental Quality's 319 Nonpoint Source Grant Program, administered through the Piedmont Triad Regional Council. These state-appropriated funds are dedicated to watershed restoration and water quality projects and cannot be used for other purposes.
We appreciate your patience and attention to safety as we work to make these improvements to North Asheboro Park.
