The City Manager's Office works with the Mayor and City Council to turn community priorities into effective municipal services, responsible investments, and long-term strategies for Asheboro. Through collaboration with City employees, residents, businesses and community partners, the City Manager's Office supports a safe, vibrant and financially sustainable community.

The City Manager is the chief administrative officer of the City of Asheboro and serves as the key link between the City Council and the City’s daily operations under the council-manager form of local government. The City Manager is directly responsible and accountable to the Mayor and City Council for implementing Council policies and managing all municipal operations. The Manager oversees and supervises City departments, advises the City Council on issues affecting the City, and keeps the Council informed of important matters. As the City’s budget officer, the Manager is responsible for preparing, administering, and implementing the Annual Operating Budget while ensuring the effective and efficient delivery of municipal services.

The Assistant City Manager supports the City Manager in the administration of municipal operations and oversees strategic initiatives related to economic development, community growth, fair housing and downtown development, and other special projects.

Fiscal Year 2026-2027 City Budget

The Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget was adopted by the Asheboro City Council at a public hearing on June 4, 2026. The current fiscal year runs from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027.

Below are several highlights from the budgets that demonstrate the city's continued investment in essential services, infrastructure, and quality of life for our community:

Public Safety: Continued investment in police and fire services, including new vehicles, equipment, and emergency response tools.
Street and Sidewalk Improvements: Funding to pave more than 5 miles of city streets and expand sidewalk repairs across the community.
Environmental Services Equipment: New sanitation and recycling equipment to improve collection services and operational efficiency.
Water and Sewer Infrastructure: Upgrades to pump stations, sewer lines, treatment facilities, and water meter technology to improve reliability and customer service.
Community and Economic Development: Support for recreation, transportation partnerships, economic development initiatives, and long-range planning efforts.
